About
Hi, I'm Leana
I am passionate about my work as a psychologist here on the Sunshine Coast, holding a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from Lewis & Clark College in Oregon, USA and a Masters of Arts degree in Psychology from Humboldt State University in California. Both are recognized as leading programs in the field. I continually further my experience by staying abreast of new developments in Psychology.
Prior to working in private practice, I worked as a School Psychologist in California, providing wide ranging services and support to the educational community. Additionally, in this role, I was nominated as lead psychologist for the autism program, servicing non-verbal to high functioning students on the spectrum. I have extensive experience working with multidisciplinary teams including speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, adaptive physical education therapists, behaviour therapists, and medical professionals. While working in this role, I was presented the Vision Award due to my efforts supporting the students, educators and school community. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and focus on the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioural health issues. I have extensive experience working with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, helping them navigate life’s challenges and build resilience and self-confidence. Additionally, I have a background in mindfulness, and I am a qualified facilitator of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program.
